#ChefsForAmerica Meal Preparation Guidelines
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, WCK has activated a national response effort, serving fresh meals to communities in need throughout the country. In early February, our Relief Team deployed to Japan to feed guests and crew onboard the quarantined cruise ship, developing systems and protocols to prepare and distribute meals ensuring everyone was kept safe. Soon after, we responded to the quarantined cruise ship in Oakland, California.
As the coronavirus began spreading across America, we grew our food relief operation to serve meals to healthcare workers on the frontlines, elderly populations who must stay inside, children unable to go to school, and other vulnerable communities facing growing food insecurity during this crisis. WCK is currently serving 100,000 fresh meals daily across dozens of cities.
In these relief efforts, we have learned a lot about the safe preparation and delivery of meals during an outbreak. Following CDC guidelines and with input from George Washington University, Tufts University and others, we developed the health & safety protocols below. If you are a restaurant or setting up a relief effort of your own, we recommend using Masky and following all the guidelines here so you can continue supporting your community by working safely!
