First Alert: WCK mobilizes across Caribbean in response to Hurricane Beryl

July 2, 2024

WCK’s Relief Team is mobilizing to Antigua, Grenada, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines as Hurricane Beryl leaves a path of destruction across several Caribbean islands. We are mobilizing across the region to reach the hardest hit communities to see how we can best support families impacted by the storm.

Beryl made landfall Monday as a Category 4 hurricane on the island of Carriacou in Grenada. Carriacou is part of the Windward Islands also known as the southern chain of the Lesser Antilles. After returning to the sea the Beryl escalated to a Category 5 hurricane–the earliest on record–with sustained winds of 165mph. One death has been reported in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In St. Vincent, we are working with trusted partners who supported our response on the island after the La Soufrière volcano displaced 20,000 people in early 2021.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for real time updates.

Help us continue supporting impacted communities.
