First Alert: WCK restaurant partners mobilize amid catastrophic floods in Argentina
World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is mobilizing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where heavy rainstorms have caused widespread flooding and forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes. This flooding has spread across the Buenos Aires province on the East coast of Argentina after nonstop torrential rainfall caused record-breaking damage.
Storms are set to continue across the region, with over 400 mm of rainfall from May 16 to May 18. Campana, Zárate, San Cayateyo, and other cities have been impacted, triggering boat evacuations and emergency rescues. Homes, businesses, farmland, and more are underwater, with an estimated 3,000+ families displaced.
Our teams are mobilizing across the region to assess needs and partner with restaurants. This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
