Restaurants for the People: 2,300 Restaurants Cooking
Even as businesses have begun to partially reopen, tens of millions of Americans remain out of work. And with Covid cases once again on the rise, the future for many restaurants remains uncertain. In response, WCK’s Relief Team continues to work in communities across more than 30 states, and we’ve now partnered with 2,300 restaurants for our Restaurants For The People program to provide nourishing meals to vulnerable families while supporting local economies. Thanks to your support, we’ve blown past our $50 million goal, and have paid over $60 million to small, independent restaurants.
Sapoara is a Latin American restaurant in East Harlem, New York. Co-owned by wife and husband team Giselle and Jeff Malave, Sapoara’s participation in WCK’s Restaurants For The People program has them cooking and delivering delicious food to several housing complexes as well as Living Redemption Youth Opportunity Hub, a community-based initiative for local youth.
