WCK & Partners in DC Support Responders After Deadly Mid-Air Collision

February 3, 2025

Updated February 3, 2025

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is supporting first responders conducting search and recovery operations following a mid-air collision between a passenger plane and military helicopter in Washington, DC. Alongside local partners, we have served more than 3,000 meals since January 30.

Our team and local partners are in Southwest, DC providing meals to rescuers after a regional passenger airplane collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter on the evening of January 29. The resulting explosion over the river near Reagan National Airport is believed to have killed all 64 passengers and crewmembers aboard the plane and all three crewmembers in the helicopter.

Three of WCK’s DC-based Chef Corps members have jumped into action to support emergency personnel. Matt Adler of Cucina Morini and Caruso’s Grocery is with  WCK’s food truck to help distribute meals. Rahul Vinod and Sahil Rahman of RASA are making lunches for first responders. We will determine if more support is needed.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up for our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for real-time updates.
