First Alert: WCK Partners with Panzi Hospital in Democratic Republic of the Congo

February 3, 2026

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is responding in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where long-running conflict has recently escalated in Bukavu—cutting families off from food and water.

Working alongside trusted local partner Panzi Hospital, WCK is supporting the preparation and distribution of fresh, nourishing meals to the hospital’s staff, patients, and people accompanying patients.

Although this conflict has been ongoing for the past 25 years, it recently escalated in Bukavu, cutting off the region from foodways and water.

WCK is honored to collaborate with Panzi Hospital, founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege, which has long served communities in eastern DRC through years of instability. This partnership allows WCK to respond quickly and responsibly, reaching families who urgently need support while reinforcing trusted local institutions.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for real-time updates.
