WCK Responds in the Philippines after Typhoon Kalmaegi

November 4, 2025

WCK is responding in the Philippines after Typhoon Kalmaegi—known locally as Typhoon Tino—caused power outages, infrastructure damage, and mass evacuations. Our Relief Team is working with local partners to serve meals to impacted families.

The fast-moving storm made landfall overnight in the central Philippines. More than 150,000 people evacuated to safer ground as authorities warned of torrential rain, destructive winds, and storm surges. To provide immediate support, we are mobilizing local restaurants to serve meals for families in evacuation centers.

The storm hit communities still recovering from last month’s devastating earthquake. Our teams were on the ground across the region for nearly one month supporting families reeling from the quake and aftershocks. Working with trusted local partners, we served over 2.9 million meals to people in need.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.

  • Typhoon Rai has left Siargao—an island in the Philippines—without power for over a month. Cost of fuel & food also make cooking challenging so our WCK community kitchens are working hard to ensure families receive nourishing meals. #ChefsForPhilippines
