Happy Holidays from Port au Prince, Haiti!
As 2014 comes to an end, José Andrés and our World Central Kitchen team are making big strides in Haiti. This week, as part of WCK's focus on skills training and job creation, Professor Dan Traster and the WCK team are training our new Culinary School staff in teaching methods that will enable them to produce “professional cooks”. New Culinary Director Chef Misole, Culinary Teacher Chef James, and Culinary Assistant Chef Abdol participated in 5 days of training and are excited to get started with our inaugural class of 37 students, kicking off their semester on January 6th! These students will learn everything from professional culinary skills to food safety and sanitation, and will be ready to launch their new careers – and new lives! – in August!
