WCK Activates Kitchen In Response To Earthquakes in Indonesia

LOMBOK, INDONESIA — Following the series of catastrophic earthquakes that have devastated the Indonesian island of Lombok, World Central Kitchen has activated our Chef Relief Team alongside All Hands and Hearts and local partners to provide critical food support to those in need.

The series of earthquakes that began in late July has:

  • Claimed the lives of 555 people

  • Injured over 7,700

  • Left 417,000 people internally displaced

  • Destroyed 67,875 homes, 606 schools, and three hospitals

  • Over $348 million dollars in damages

In a joint effort with All Hands and Hearts and local partners, World Central Kitchen has established a central relief kitchen in the northwestern part of Lombok and are already serving thousands of meals to those living in tents. All Hands and Hearts is helping to coordinate volunteers as well as working with WCK to identify need and coordinate deliveries.

WCK will continue to work to provide hope and comfort during time and is ready to scale up as we continue to identify need with our partners. Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for the latest updates, and donate to support our efforts in Indonesia below.
