First Alert: WCK Relief Team Serving Navajo Nation After SNAP Delays
World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is supporting the Navajo Nation in Pinon, Arizona, after delays in SNAP food assistance caused by the U.S. government shutdown. More than one-third of families here rely on SNAP, so our teams are working with local partners to distribute food kits that ensure families have a reliable source of nourishment as the delays persist.
We are also currently responding to the 2025 government shutdown with our #ChefsForFeds program, serving meals to federal workers and their families impacted by the shutdown.
WCK launched our #ChefsForFeds initiative during the 2019 government shutdown, serving over 100,000 meals to federal workers and their families in D.C and hundreds of thousands more meals nationwide.
In 2020, WCK also worked alongside the Navajo Nation during the COVID-19 pandemic, partnering with local leaders to deliver more than 2.6 million meals in the form of food kits across the reservation and help ensure families had reliable access to food.
This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
