First Alert: WCK Relief Team Serving Meals to Airport Workers During Partial Government Shutdown

March 13, 2026

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is serving meals to TSA agents who have been working without pay as the partial U.S. government shutdown enters its fourth week. Working closely with local restaurant partners, WCK is beginning service at airports in the Greater Baltimore-Washington and Houston areas.

When federal workers were furloughed and left without pay in late 2025, our teams were ready. Working with longtime restaurant partners and Chef Corps members, WCK served more than 110,000 meals to federal employees across D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and New York.

That commitment goes back to 2019, when WCK launched our #ChefsForFeds initiative — providing more than 100,000 meals to federal workers and their families in D.C. and, through partnerships with 400 restaurants in 35 states, hundreds of thousands more meals nationwide.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
