WCK Relief Team en route to the Philippines after Devastating Earthquake
The World Central Kitchen team is on the way to the Philippines, where a magnitude 6.9 earthquake devastated the local community on September 30. Families there have lost access to power, water, and roads, and many have lost their homes. Search and rescue efforts are underway. Nearby cities have also experienced destruction, with some declaring a state of emergency.
WCK is meeting with local community members to support. Officials expect aftershocks to continue.
In the winter of 2021-2022, WCK responded in the Philippines after Typhoon Rai slammed the island of Siargao. Over the course of that response, we served over 1.4 million meals, ensuring access to hard-to-reach communities through partnerships with local organizations and businesses. Our local partners will again be critical to rapidly supporting the needs of their neighbors.
This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
