Cooking at the Scale of Need During Ramadan and Beyond
During Ramadan, humanitarian efforts around the world intensify. At World Central Kitchen, this month of increased giving aligns with a response already built to operate daily on the ground in Gaza. Our work is not limited to a season or a campaign. It is a functioning food system designed to cook and deliver meals every day, under active conflict, at a scale shaped by real conditions and sustained need.
A Food System Built for Scale
WCK’s work in Gaza is organized around one clear goal: reaching one million meals every day for families facing prolonged displacement and food deprivation.
But one million meals a day is not the finish line. More is urgently needed in Gaza.
To meet that need, WCK has built and sustained a network of six large-capacity Field Kitchens across Gaza, supported by partner restaurants, dozens of community kitchens, bakeries, and mobile operations. These kitchens are designed to cook fresh food close to where people are living, allowing meals to move quickly despite restricted access and ongoing instability.
In a single recent week, WCK prepared more than 7.5 million hot meals across Gaza. More than 4.9 million of those meals were cooked inside WCK’s Field Kitchens alone.
Our goal this Ramadan, beyond the hundreds of thousands of daily hot meals our teams cook, is to send 100,000 Ramadan food kits. These kits account for an additional 7 million individual meals, delivered through our active, community-centered network in Palestine.

Expanding Capacity Where It’s Needed Most
WCK recently opened a new large-capacity Field Kitchen in northern Gaza, becoming the second WCK Field Kitchen in the north and the sixth across Gaza. This expansion strengthens a network designed for redundancy, reach, and reliability, ensuring food reaches Palestinians in need even when individual routes or locations are disrupted.
Across this system:
- Field Kitchens produce hundreds of thousands of meals each day
- Partner restaurants reach hard-to-access areas with hot meals
- Community kitchens maintain daily food access for the most vulnerable
- Hospitals and displacement shelters receive direct meal deliveries
This integrated model allows WCK to scale without sacrificing speed, consistency, or local leadership.
Ramadan and Always
During Ramadan, WCK’s work intensifies, but our mission does not change.
The same kitchens operate. The same local teams lead. The same food system sustains families day after day. What changes is the clarity Ramadan brings: feeding people is not optional.
WCK delivers food without conditions, at the scale the crisis demands, during Ramadan and beyond.
