First Alert: WCK Responds in the Philippines after Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong)
WCK is working with local partners in the Philippines to respond to Typhoon Uwan, known locally as Typhoon Fung-Wong. This is the 21st typhoon that has made landfall in the Philippines this year, and has caused flooding, destruction, and displacement in the Luzon region.
Since November 4, we have also been responding in the Philippines after Typhoon Kalmaegi—known locally as Typhoon Tino—caused power outages, infrastructure damage, and mass evacuations. Our Relief Team has been working closely with local partners to serve meals since the first typhoon hit.
These storms come at a time when communities are still recovering from last month’s devastating earthquake. Our teams were on the ground across the region for nearly one month, supporting families reeling from the quake and aftershocks. Working with trusted local partners, we served over 2.9 million meals to people in need.
This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
