WCK activates #ChefsForMozambique after Cyclone Idai

Cyclone Idai is being called one of the worst weather-related disasters to ever hit southern Africa. 1.85 million people are in need

Right now, more than 400,000 people in Mozambique are displaced, and many of them have lost everything. There are 1 million people without electricity and 1.2 million acres of crops flooded. There is such a great need for support, which is why WCK has activated #ChefsForMozambique.

Upon arrival in Beira, Mozambique, the Chef Relief Team led by Sam quickly found a kitchen in an event banquet hall that could be cleaned, repaired, and used to cook. Moving fast with a large number of local volunteers, the kitchen was up and running delivering hundreds of meals on the first day. Today, the team will be serving thousands.

The effort in Mozambique is just beginning and will be a long, hard road to recovery. The WCK Relief Team will be there to provide meals to thousands of families in need during this challenging, emotional time.

Wherever there is a fight so that hungry people may eat, we will be there.
