5 Continents, 18 Missions: A Look Back at WCK in 2019

January 2, 2020

Dear friends,

As the year comes to a close, we invite you to look back at World Central Kitchen’s efforts in communities we have served around the world – only possible with the support you have shown us.

WCK cooked and delivered hot meals every day of 2019, and we have experienced a growing need for our work as we face increasing climate-related disasters and refugee crises affecting the most vulnerable.

After responding to the government shutdown in our own backyard in Washington DC, our Chef Relief Team has led operations in The Bahamas, Mozambique, California, Indonesia, and beyond. Our long-term programs in Puerto Rico, Haiti, and Central America continue to expand, addressing chronic food security challenges through locally-led approaches.

With our team still on the ground in Colombia, Venezuela, the US-Mexico border, and cooking from 3 kitchens in The Bahamas, the need for food relief is more urgent than ever. This year, we launched our Climate Disaster Fund to support the work we’re doing and help us continue to go wherever we are needed – to adapt in real-time and respond with the urgency of now.

Thank you for standing alongside us, and ensuring that wherever there is a fight so that hungry people may eat, we will be there.

Sincerely,

José Andrés, Founder & Nate Mook, CEO
