Food producer network 2020 grantee

Alexis Loyola

Alexis fishes near Mona Island for two to three days from sunrise to sunset looking for Queen Snapper. These are tough days away from his family, working under the sun, sleeping on the boat, but he does it with the confidence that his catch is pre-sold to restaurant clients before he returns to the port.

WCK’s support will enable Alexis to purchase an ice machine, which will help him to ensure the quality, presentation, and proper management of his fish supply. Alexis wants to maintain consistency in the deep red color of his fish when he delivers to local restaurants, and this requires a significant amount of ice. An ice machine will also help increase his productivity, thereby allowing Alexis to spend more time with his family.
