Food producer network 2020 grantee

Andy's Farm Inc.

Andy's Farm is a family company led by Eduardo and his mother Nancy, who are dedicated to food production mainly through hydroponic systems. Among the crops they grow are cilantro, lettuces, bell peppers, and cubanelle peppers.

‘Andy,’ as he is known in the neighborhood, first started farming in 2015 on his grandmother’s property by growing coffee; he later diversified by adding plantains and hydroponic growing systems. His main clients are supermarkets, family markets, and the local community through direct sales. His greatest aspiration is to obtain the necessary financing to be in full compliance with national food safety laws, and therefore be able to expand his variety of available produce and potential markets.

With WCK’s support, Andy and Nancy will finish building fresh food packaging facilities and a cold storage area in order to comply with FDA regulations. With these new facilities and new greenhouses, in one year they hope to double their production and reach sales of approximately $60,000. Additionally, they expect to save more than $14,500 on products that would have formerly been damaged by a lack of cold storage.
