Ganadería Buenos Aires LLC

Young agronomist Miguel Carrero Caro founded Ganadería Buenos Aires LLC, a farm dedicated to raising grass-fed cattle for beef production and breeding improvement, in 2018. He graduated with a degree in agribusiness from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, and has experience managing his family’s farm in Rincón, on the island’s west coast. Miguel’s own 140-acre farm in Cabo Rojo, south of Rincón, is home to 85 grass-fed and hormone-free Charolais cattle intended for meat production.

With WCK’s support, Miguel will be able to acquire ten purebred Charolais heifers, which have a high yield and produce tender, delicious meat. These new heifers will help him genetically improve his herd in order to reach his goal of selling pure Charolais cattle to other ranchers for fattening and meat production. He will purchase a harrow to prepare the ranch’s soil for sowing signalgrass, and a fertilizer spreader to keep his pastures in optimal condition, which will also allow Miguel to sell high-quality hay to other ranchers. During the first year, he hopes to have a minimum of 30 acres planted with pastureland, hire at least two new employees, increase his genetic representation of Charolais cattle, and sell new purebred Charolais heifers, all of which will increase his farm’s production.
