World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team was in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where heavy rainstorms caused widespread flooding and forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes. We worked with restaurant partners to ensure meals reach all areas of need.
The late May flooding spread across the Buenos Aires province on the east coast of Argentina after nonstop torrential rainfall caused record-breaking damage.
Storms hit the region, dumping nearly 16 inches of rainfall from May 16 to May 18. Campana, Zárate, San Cayateyo, and other cities have been impacted, triggering boat evacuations and emergency rescues. Homes, businesses, farmland, and more are underwater, with an estimated 3,000 families displaced.
