Relief Team responds to Canada wildfires

#ChefsforCanada
Manitoba, Saskatchewan | Active from May – September 2025
World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team first mobilized in May 2025 in response to wildfires that scorched millions of acres across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. When fires spread again in July, we resumed working with local partners in Manitoba to ensure families and first responders received nourishing meals.

From May to September 2025, we worked shoulder to shoulder with local organizations and restaurants in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to identify all pockets of need and make sure affected residents have access to hot meals.

After first responding to the fires in May, WCK expanded our support of impacted communities in July as blazes kept spreading in Manitoba.

As fires burned, we worked with local partners and food trucks to serve nourishing meals to displaced families at hotels, transit hubs, and evacuation centers.

As wildfires force evacuations across Manitoba, WCK is serving meals at the Billy Mosienko Arena, now a shelter for displaced families. Usually home to local hockey games, the arena has become a hub for relief. Big Daddy’s Perogies & More was among our first food truck partners on site.
