WCK on the ground in Catalonia, Spain after severe flooding from DANA
#ChefsForSpain
World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team was on the ground in La Ràpita, Catalonia, Spain to support food and water needs after severe flooding.
In recent days, a DANA had severely affected Spain, causing heavy flooding in several areas. Intense rainfall had disrupted parts of the Mediterranean coast, and multiple weather alerts remained active as rain continued across the region.
The most affected municipalities were La Ràpita, Santa Bàrbara, and Godall, where homes, streets, and infrastructure were damaged by flooding. Hundreds of people sought shelter at the height of the storm, and most later returned home to begin cleanup.
WCK distributed hundreds of meals to first responders and residents and scaled up operations as additional teams and equipment arrived.
