At the peak of India’s Covid surge, the country was reporting more than 400,000 infections a day. WCK joined forces with well-known Indian Chef, Sanjeev Kapoor to prepare nourishing meals for healthcare heroes working around the clock to combat the surge.
Beginning with 10,000 meals each day in Mumbai, we quickly expanded to serve over 20,000 daily meals across 15 cities. Helping WCK scale up our efforts and reach more people, Taj Sats and Taj Hotels provided their airplane catering kitchens and local hotel kitchens in smaller cities and towns.
On July 31, after new Covid cases stabilized and hospitals were no longer operating above capacity, WCK closed out our relief efforts providing a total of 1,250,000 meals. Beyond our Covid response, WCK is now working on the creation of a Community Relief Center in Mumbai that will serve as an emergency response kitchen, food distribution hub, school, clinic, and community gathering space for families in partnership with the Archewell Foundation.
