The mid July earthquakes left many families without power, water, and other vital resources. Our teams connected with impacted communities as first responders conducted search and rescue missions.
WCK teams served warm meals to families in the hardest hit towns, including Santa María de Jesús. Beyond meals, we also provided potable water and food kits.
We responded in Guatemala during Hurricane Iota in 2020 and Hurricane Julia in 2022, serving thousands of families over the course of both responses. In 2018, we also served over 300,000 meals to communities impacted by the deadly eruption of the Fuego Volcano near the Southwest coast of Guatemala.

Hear from our team on the ground
WCK is in Santa María de Jesús, a Guatemalan town close to Antigua that was hit hard by dozens of earthquakes. We are connecting with local families. Many people are living in the streets due to either damage or fear of being in their homes.
WCK reaching isolated communities
After landslides cut off all road access to Santa María de Jesús following the earthquakes, families are walking for hours along steep, dangerous paths to reach essentials. WCK is supporting them with meals they can carry, like tamales and sandwiches, along the way.
