Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm in early October. Milton hit the Gulf coast of Florida while recovery stages following Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in the Big Bend, were still underway.
Soon after Milton passed, WCK’s Relief Team reopened our Tampa kitchen where we had cooked for families impacted by Hurricane Helene. Thankfully, this kitchen sustained minimal damage from Hurricane Milton, allowing us to get back to cooking quickly.

WCK’s Field Kitchen in Tampa was built in response to Hurricane Helene. This warehouse turned professional kitchen was back in action and capable of producing 30,000 meals a day for families recovering from both Helene and Hurricane Milton.
WCK’s Chef Corps in Action
WCK’s Chef Corps is our global network of 450 prominent culinary leaders who make us more nimble around the world. Our teams in Florida have been joined by several Chef Corps members, eager to use their culinary knowledge to help us support communities impacted by Hurricane Milton. Watch the video below to hear from two of these incredible chefs about their work with us.
Volunteers Show Up for Neighbors in Need
Local volunteers are vital to WCK efforts around the world, and our response after Hurricane Milton swept through Florida proved that again. In St. Petersburg, we met Samantha who volunteered with us to distribute hot meals to neighbors that were heavily impacted by the storm.
