WCK Responds to Historic Flooding & Landslides in Minas Gerais
Hundreds of families have been forced to evacuate, with roadways quickly flooding and becoming impassable. The towns of Juiz de Fora and Ubá have been especially hard hit, and with more rain forecasted in the coming days, the local government has declared a state of calamity.
WCK teams have supported Brazilian communities impacted by disaster on several occasions. Most recently, in late 2025, we responded to a rare and intense tornado in Parana. The tornado caused catastrophic damage, destroying 80% of the town’s structures. Our Relief team worked closely with the local team in Porto Alegre to support impacted families, serving over 100,000 meals to community members. The last time WCK responded to flooding in the country was in 2024 when our teams were in Rio Grande de Sul after floodwaters and landslides displaced hundreds of thousands of people.
Working closely with restaurant partners and community leaders, our teams began serving meals within hours of arrival. Now, our team is serving thousands of families in need.
