WCK’s Relief Team mobilized to northwestern Spain in mid-August to support communities in Ourense affected by the fires. As the blazes spread, our teams provided meals across four provinces: Lugo, León, Ourense, and Zamora.
These fires came during a deadly heat wave across the Mediterranean. In July, we responded to wildfires in Ávila that devastated communities and forced families from their homes.

Reaching the hardest hit communities
In response to recent wildfires in Spain, WCK teams mobilized to provide immediate support. We delivered meals in hard-hit communities like Juan’s, deployed our food trucks to emergency crew hubs & served thousands of meals across four provinces to first responders & families in need.
Mobilizing across the region
WCK teams are responding as wildfires in Spain intensify. We deployed our food truck to a new Advanced Command Post near Quiroga, close to expanding fires in O Barco and A Rúa. Our team served a hearty stew of potatoes and tuna alongside sandwiches, fruit, and cold water for first responders.
Meet Begoña
WCK is serving food in Ourense through our restaurant partners, who are preparing and delivering sandwiches, fruit, and water to response teams in wildfire-affected areas. In Verín, Begoña of Regueiro da Cova has been making sandwiches since the start—filled with fresh, local produce.
