This years annual monsoon season in Pakistan was the wettest since records began in 1961 and worst to hit the region since 2010. Rainfall was said to be 780% above average levels triggering record flooding that left people homeless, destroyed schools and hospitals, engulfed entire villages, and wiped out crops. Agriculture plays a key role in Pakistan’s economy and with an already present economic crisis, the extensive damage—including the development of a 62 mile wide inland lake—is believed to complicate recovery efforts for months and years to come.
Establishing kitchens in the northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and southeastern Sindh province, WCK partnered with local groups to support regional teams cooking for families in need. We then worked together to distribute thousands of food kits across hard-hit villages in both provinces.

Regional partners spearhead WCK’s emergency response
We first started cooking in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and later with our local partners WCK opened a second Relief Kitchen in Sindh to serve more families in need.
Wrapping up our efforts, NGOs Instant Aid and Rizq helped us distribute nearly 200 tons of food to villages still dealing with the aftermath of devastating floods.
