Relief Team in Tennessee after devastating tornadoes

#ChefsForTennessee
Nashville, Tennessee | December 2023
A series of deadly storms and tornadoes tore through Tennessee mid December, displacing and leaving thousands without power. WCK’s Relief Team was on the ground across the state working alongside longtime partners to support families impacted.

The storms hit central and northern Tennessee, destroying hundreds of homes and killing at least 6 people. One of the tornadoes in Nashville hit with winds reaching 125 miles per hour. Another tornado traveled dozens of miles, causing widespread devastation across two counties. Nearly 20,000 people remained without power as of Monday morning.

WCK Relief Team members worked with longtime and new food truck and restaurant partners in hard-hit communities. Our teams delivered meals door to door to identify all pockets of need.

Meet Al

WCK’s previous work in the region in response to Covid 19 and other natural disasters meant we had many longtime partners who stepped up immediately after the storms to feed neighbors in need. Al of Big Al’s Deli in Nashville jumped to action within hours, joining us for his fifth WCK emergency response. Al prepared hundreds of sandwiches for neighbors in need.

Help us keep cooking for families in need.
