Regions across Mexico have experienced heavy rains throughout the week, with communities in the state of Veracruz being the hardest hit. The Cazones River in the city of Poza Rica overflowed early on Friday morning, flooding streets and damaging homes. Families evacuated to local shelters, and city authorities had to cut off electricity in some areas as a precaution.
WCK teams were on the ground quickly, serving meals less than six hours after we arrived. We are working with local communities and emergency response teams to support.

Reaching families in shelters
Rains from Tropical Storm Raymond have impacted more than 50 municipalities across Veracruz, with Álamo among the hardest hit. As soon as WCK teams arrived, we began serving sandwiches to families seeking refuge at a local shelter. We’re returning with hot meals to ensure everyone has a nourishing plate of food as they wait to learn if they can return home.
