Tropics Hydroponics

Tropics Hydroponics Farm was established in 2008 with a humble greenhouse that housed a single lettuce rack. Since then, the operation has expanded to three greenhouses, open-air plots of tomatoes and cucumbers, and an orchard of 100 breadfruit trees. Their crops are sold to local grocery stores, restaurants, the local hospital, roadside vendors, and on site to the general public. Along with many other small farms, Tropics Hydroponics works in conjunction with Ridge To Reef Farm to serve local public schools as part of the Farm to School initiative.

With WCK’s support, Tropics Hydroponics will expand their cucumber production even further, to meet the ever-growing needs of the community. By adding two more 16-row plots of cucumbers, they will be able to grow more than 3,000 cucumber plants. They’ll purchase all necessary materials, including ground cover to eliminate weeds and tools to extend  their irrigation system.
