First Alert: WCK prepositioning in Florida ahead of Hurricane Helene

September 25, 2024

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is prepositioned in Tallahassee, Florida ahead of Hurricane Helene’s landfall. Multiple WCK food truck partners and our new Rapid Response Field Kitchen are being readied so our teams can provide hot meals quickly after the storm.

Helene is expected to make landfall on Thursday, bringing heavy rains, high winds, and a potentially dangerous storm surge along miles of coastline. According to some models, it is possible that this storm system could develop into a cyclone.

Helene’s projected route is similar to that of Hurricane Debby which hit the Big Bend area of the Florida coast just last month in early August. In response to Hurricane Debby, WCK’s Relief Team deployed our new Rapid Response Field Kitchen to Florida where we prepared thousands of hot meals for families at the Fort White Community Center.

This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for real time updates.
