Zakat-Verified: World Central Kitchen’s Relief Efforts in Gaza & Lebanon
Zakat Eligibility:
World Central Kitchen’s (WCK) relief efforts in Gaza and Lebanon have been Zakat-verified according to Shaykh Aarij Anwer via LaunchGood who advised on the policy as well as the Zakat verification process for campaigns on LaunchGood. He advises the National Zakat Foundation Canada and Shariah Portfolio on Zakat-related matters. In the past, he served as the Director of Religious Affairs at the London Muslim Mosque. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (Waterloo), a Bachelor of Education (Toronto), and a Bachelor of Islamic Sciences in Islamic Jurisprudence (Al-Madinah International University, Malaysia).
In addition to Shaykh Aarij Anwer, WCK’s relief efforts meet the Zakat-verification policy set forward by Shaykh Joe Bradford and Shaykh Yaser Birjas who developed the Zakat Policy for LaunchGood.
All donations are restricted to WCK’s relief efforts in Gaza, making any donation 100% Zakat eligible. This restricted donation ensures each dollar will only go towards food distributed in the region. 100% of donations from our campaign go directly towards feeding families in Gaza.
About WCK Relief Efforts:
The devastating crisis has lasted for too long and our teams on the ground tell us firsthand of the impact of our Ramadan relief efforts. We’ve sent more than 110 million meals to Palestinians since October 7th.
To support families in Gaza WCK teams have spent months designing food kits specifically for Palestinians and Muslims. Each box has nearly thirty pounds of food, the equivalent of fifty meals. All food distributed is certified halal and culturally appropriate, with every ingredient confirmed halal by our culinary team..
As the population of Gaza faces the harsh reality of starvation, our mission is clear: feeding people in their darkest moments. The principles of compassion and solidarity will lead our way, putting humanity first, always.
