BBC: How World Central Kitchen is Preparing for Winter in Ukraine
As Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure intensify ahead of another winter of war, millions of families face months without reliable electricity, heating, or water—and without a way to cook. Yuliya Stefanyuk, WCK’s Ukraine Response Director, spoke with the BBC about how our teams are preparing for that reality: cooking methods that don’t depend on power or gas, stove kits and survival kits for families facing prolonged outages, and new ways to reach people sheltering in metro stations during attacks. Since 2022, WCK has served more than 302 million meals across Ukraine, and our teams have responded to more than 500 emergencies there in 2026 alone. Watch the full interview below.
