First Alert: WCK Relief Team in Guatemala Amid 150+ Devastating Earthquakes

July 10, 2025

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is in Guatemala, where over 150 earthquakes over the past two days, at least one of which has registered at a magnitude 5.7,  have left communities destroyed and caused fatalities. The resulting infrastructure damage has left many families without power, water, and other vital resources. Our teams are connecting with impacted communities as first responders conduct search and rescue missions.

Our teams have responded in Guatemala during Hurricane Iota in 2020 and Hurricane Julia in 2022, serving thousands of families over the course of both responses. In 2018, we also served over 300,000 meals to communities impacted by the deadly eruption of the Fuego Volcano near the Southwest coast of Guatemala.

Our teams are mobilizing across the region to provide immediate relief and identify areas in need. This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
