First Alert: WCK Serving Meals in Missouri and Kentucky After Devastating Tornadoes

May 17, 2025

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is on the ground in Missouri and Kentucky providing meals and water to families affected by devastating tornadoes.

Powerful storm systems swept across the Midwestern and Southern United States on Friday night that caused several tornadoes and other severe weather like hail and damaging winds. At least 20 people have died and dozens more were injured, and local emergency services are still undergoing search and rescue efforts. The tornadoes caused major damage in several communities—uprooted trees are blocking roads, roofs were torn off homes, and some buildings have been completely flattened. One of the tornadoes that spawned in Clayton, a St. Louis, Missouri suburb, damaged more than 5,000 structures alone.

WCK is coordinating with local partners to deliver food and water to affected communities to ensure families receive the support they need. This remains a quickly evolving situation.
