Media Alert: WCK Brings Food Is Life Campaign to Houston During Morocco vs. Canada Match
Houston, Texas — World Central Kitchen (WCK) will bring our Food Is Life campaign to Houston on Saturday, July 4, celebrating the power of food to unite communities during the Morocco vs. Canada match.
As part of the Stars Over City Place 4th of July Celebration in Spring, Texas, WCK will partner with Cochinita & Co., founded by Chef Corps member Victoria Elizondo, to serve complimentary snacks while supplies last. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., visitors can find WCK tents throughout the celebration and learn more about the organization’s mission to nourish communities through the power of food.
The activation is part of WCK’s nationwide Food Is Life campaign, bringing communities together through food in host cities throughout this summer’s international football tournament. Through these community activities, WCK celebrates food’s unique ability to connect people across cultures while raising awareness of the organization’s work serving fresh meals in the wake of disasters and humanitarian crises.
Victoria Elizondo, chef and owner of Cochinita & Co., says:
“Food has always been one of the most powerful ways to bring people together. It creates connections across cultures, languages, and backgrounds, reminding us that we have more in common than we often realize. As an immigrant, chef, and small business owner, I’ve seen firsthand how sharing a meal or watching a soccer game can build community and create a sense of belonging. That’s why I’m so excited to partner with WCK and celebrate the joy of gathering around good food and the people who make those moments meaningful.”
