WCK Opens North Star Field Kitchen in Northern Gaza
World Central Kitchen has opened our first Field Kitchen in northern Gaza. Named North Star Kitchen, it is our fourth large-scale Field Kitchen in Gaza and joins our network of 95 community kitchens, including 5 in northern Gaza, to serve tens of thousands of meals daily. Since first responding to the crisis, WCK has served more than 126 million meals to impacted Palestinians.
Chefs at North Star Kitchen began cooking on Monday, quickly scaling operations from 2,000 to 10,000 meals daily. Once the expansion is complete, we will be able to produce 50,000 meals here each day.
Getting food into northern Gaza has been a major challenge since October 2023. Until this week, WCK-provided meals reached families through community kitchens and partner organizations. The new kitchen ensures more nourishing food reaches people in need.
Like WCK’s other Field Kitchens in central and southern Gaza, building this location required ingenuity and resilience due to limited resources.
With northern Gaza facing a severe water shortage, our teams installed four filtration systems at the new field kitchen. Together, they can produce up to 5,200 gallons of water daily. Strict fuel restrictions remain in place, so this kitchen is equipped with the innovative wood stoves used by our cooks across Gaza.
The North Star Kitchen team is already working to expand its capacity to serve more meals and reach more families in need. By expanding operations in northern Gaza, WCK is supporting Palestinians returning home—many after more than a year of displacement.
Support our efforts in Gaza.
