The WCK Way in 2024
In 2024, WCK provided over 109 million meals to families affected by conflict, natural disasters, and the climate crisis in 20 countries. This month, teams are on the ground in Ukraine, Gaza, Lebanon, Mayotte, Egypt, Spain, and North Carolina, delivering meals with the help of partners and volunteers. Since October 2023, we’ve served families in Gaza facing starvation. We’ve also served communities in Ukraine for nearly three years amid escalating attacks. At the same time, we are responding to climate-related disasters that grow more intense and frequent. Still, everywhere we go, we see the best of humanity show up, as neighbors join us in bringing hope to families in need—one plate of food at a time.
This coming year we will mark our 15th anniversary. In 2010, Chef José Andrés traveled to Haiti after a devastating earthquake, determined to help. While cooking with displaced families, he learned to prepare black beans the Haitian way—mashed and sieved into a creamy sauce. For José, it wasn’t just about providing food but about listening, learning, and cooking alongside locals. This approach to food aid became the foundation of WCK. Throughout 2025 we will be hosting events to highlight the strength of the communities we have supported and honor the tireless efforts of our team. Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope—our first-ever cookbook available in English and Spanish—offers the opportunity to learn about our work over the years while tasting the dishes that have defined our efforts.
