First Alert: WCK Relief Team in Türkiye Amid Devastating Wildfires

July 1, 2025

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is in Türkiye, where wildfires and strong winds have forced over 50,000 people to evacuate their homes in Izmir and Hatay. Our teams are assessing needs in impacted communities as first responders work to contain the blazes. This comes during a time of increasingly severe wildfires in Türkiye and across the world.

In 2023, our teams responded to the earthquake that rocked both Syria and Türkiye, using all available resources to serve communities cut off by the destruction. We served over 12 million meals during this response, many of them in the Hatay region.

Our teams are mobilizing across the region to provide immediate relief and identify areas in need. This remains a quickly evolving situation. You can sign up to our newsletter to receive more information and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, and Facebook for real-time updates.
