Feeding evacuees: a lifeline in Sumy

October 22, 2024

Ukrainians evacuating frontline Russian-occupied zones find warm meals and emotional support from WCK in Sumy.

For many, the journey to safety is long—hours or even days—often with just a few belongings and little food or water. Sumy serves as a key stopping point, where WCK offers recovery with traditional meals and emotional support.

Some evacuees stay at the shelter where we operate for a day, a week, or longer. Others pause just long enough to refuel before continuing the journey to their new lives. When they leave, WCK provides evacuees meal kits to help them prepare more than 20 meals at their next destination.

Join us in supporting evacuees with warm meals and food kits in Ukraine.
