WCK Responds in Veracruz, Mexico After Heavy Rains Cause Flooding
WCK’s Relief Team is on the ground in Veracruz, Mexico to support families impacted by devastating flooding caused by heavy rains. The downpours and ensuing flooding and landslides have damaged thousands of homes, flooded roads, and even cut off power to entire towns.
Regions across Mexico have experienced heavy rains throughout the week, with communities in the state of Veracruz being the hardest hit. The Cazones River in the city of Poza Rica overflowed early on Friday morning, flooding streets and damaging homes. Families evacuated to local shelters, and city authorities had to cut off electricity in some areas as a precaution.
WCK teams were on the ground quickly, serving meals less than six hours after we arrived. We are working with local communities and emergency response teams to support.
