NPR: WCK’s Yuliya on How Food Becomes a Lifeline in Ukraine War

April 30, 2026

Nearly four and a half years into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the work of keeping people fed has never stopped—and neither has WCK. Since February 2022, our teams have served close to 300 million meals across the country, often in frontline communities where supply chains have collapsed and families are cut off. Yuliya, WCK’s Ukraine Response Director, joined NPR and WBUR’s Here & Now with Scott Tong to talk about what that work actually looks like on the ground—and why, in times of crisis, food is more than aid. It is hope.
