WCK Serves Meals After Intense Flooding in Colombia

#ChefsForColombia
Córdoba, Colombia | February 2026
World Central Kitchen responded in Colombia, where days of intense rainfall have triggered severe flooding, widespread power outages, and dangerous conditions that forced families from their homes. Working alongside local partners, our teams served meals to communities impacted by the storms.

Low-lying areas of the Córdoba department, particularly around Montería, experienced significant destruction as rivers overflow and floodwaters inundate neighborhoods, roadways, and farmland.

WCK teams worked with local partners, community leaders, Chef Corps members, and authorities to ensure meals reached anyone in need, including families sheltering after being forced from their homes.

With Chef Corps Member Harry Sasson and our partners at Fundación Gastronomía Social, our teams cooked and distributed sancocho, a hearty meat and vegetable stew and a staple of Colombian cuisine. Find Chef Harry’s recipe here:

Residents of El Volador had to abandon their homes in the middle of the night when the flooding hit, and they were finally able to return after nearly a week. They quickly organized a community kitchen, so WCK is supporting them with supplies so they can cook for their neighbors. #ChefsForColombia
