Wind-fueled fires followed by snow in Colorado

#ChefsForColorado
Boulder County, Colorado | Active from December 2021 – January 2022
The Marshall Fire now stands as the most destructive fire in Colorado history. As communities worked to recover, WCK supported local restaurants to provide comoforting meals to households in need and first responders.

Just two days before the start of the new year, a fire broke out in Boulder County, Colorado forcing over 35,000 people to evacuate their homes. High winds and a record dryness led to the fires’ quick and vast spread that destroyed 1,000 homes—heavy snowfall shortly after helped contain the fire.

WCK arrived quickly after the flames began, providing meals to emergency crews and first responders. As evacuation orders started lifting and power was restored, WCK began supporting local restaurants—many that were former partners from our #ChefsForAmerica Covid response—to provide hot meals for families and emergency responders. We had a total of more than 70 partners who served more than 7,500 meals in and around the affected towns of Superior and Louisville.

In need of a meal?

WCK worked with a group of Denver and Boulder area restaurants on a program called Restaurants Revive where families impacted by the fires can go into select eateries for free meals. See more information and the list of participating restaurants here.
