Relief Team mobilizes in South Texas and Mexico amid catastrophic floods
#ChefsForTexas & #ChefsForMexico
World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team was in South Texas, where heavy rainstorms caused widespread flooding and destruction. Over two days, storms brought six months’ worth of rain to the region. Our team worked with local partners to serve meals to families in need.
The catastrophic flooding spanned across South Texas, particularly in the Rio Grande Valley. Cities such as Harlingen, McAllen, and Palmview have seen unprecedented rainfall, inundating streets and homes. Emergency crews conducted numerous water rescues as drivers abandoned vehicles in rising waters. The flooding forced evacuations, closed schools, and led officials to declare states of emergency in several areas.
