WCK Responds to Super Typhoon Sinlaku
The storm brought torrential rain and hurricane-force wind gusts hours before its arrival. Forecasts predict more storm surges, destructive winds, and another 6-12 inches of rain that could lead to flash flooding as the storm passes.
Sinlaku is the strongest tropical typhoon so far in 2026, with winds up to 185 mph. It is also earlier than usual in the year for a storm of this strength—most typhoons in this region typically occur from July-November. Super Typhoon Sinlaku is slow-moving, prolonging the impact on islands in the region.
Our teams are responding in Saipan, Rota, and Tinian, all in the Northern Mariana Islands.

Just days after Super Typhoon Sinlaku, communities across Saipan—one of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. commonwealth in the western Pacific—are hard at work on recovery efforts. WCK is working with local restaurant partners like Great Harvest Bread Co. to prepare hot meals for impacted families. By providing reliable access to food, we’re ensuring residents can focus on rebuilding and moving forward.
