From D.C. to West Hollywood: Carrying Pride Forward Across Communities

May 21, 2026

On June 7th, 2026, World Central Kitchen will proudly participate in the West Hollywood Pride Parade and we invite our community, partners, volunteers, and friends to join us.

Last year, WCK had the privilege of participating in World Pride in Washington, D.C., joining a global community in celebration of Pride, identity, and belonging.

At World Central Kitchen, we believe food is more than nourishment. Food is dignity. It is care, visibility, and a reminder that people deserve to feel seen, valued, and supported exactly as they are. That belief is deeply connected to what Pride represents.

What made last year’s experience so meaningful was not simply the act of being in the parade. It was the reminder that Pride, much like humanitarian work, is rooted in community.

At its core, Pride is about visibility, resilience, and the universal human need to belong. It is about honoring those who came before, recognizing the progress made across generations and geographies, and continuing the work of building communities where every person can live with dignity and safety.

That work is not confined to one country, one city, or one movement. It is global. And so is WCK.

From conflict zones to climate emergencies, from remote villages to major cities, WCK operates in some of the most complex environments in the world. In every place, the organization is guided by the same belief: that care is universal, and that food can be a bridge between people, cultures, and communities.

This year on June 7th, WCK is proud to continue that tradition by participating in the West Hollywood Pride Parade, bringing that same spirit of solidarity and celebration to the West Coast.

Los Angeles holds a special place in WCK’s story. It is a community where WCK has shown up in moments of crisis, including during devastating wildfires, standing alongside families, first responders, and local partners. Returning now, in a moment of celebration, reflects the full spectrum of what community looks like: showing up not only in hardship, but in joy.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s West Hollywood Pride Parade with WCK, we invite you to fill out this form:

Pride invites all of us to look backward and forward at the same time. To honor the struggles and sacrifices that created space for so many to live openly today. And to continue building a future where compassion, inclusion, and community remain at the center of how we move through the world.

At WCK, that future looks a lot like the mission itself: people coming together across differences, across distances, and across borders to care for one another.

From D.C. to West Hollywood, and everywhere in between, that spirit continues.

And so does the work.
