In 2025, we served first responders and impacted families during wildfires in the Ávila region. This comes during a time of increasingly severe wildfires across the world as weather patterns become more and more extreme.
In 2024, we responded to the devastating flooding in Valencia, where thousands of families were forced to evacuate and were living in shelters. During that time, we served over 6 million meals to these families.

Chef Corps Member Mónica Sahmkow Shows Up For Her Community
A culinary school. A crisis. And a chef who didn’t hesitate. The day after the earthquakes struck Venezuela, WCK Chef Corps member Mónica Sahmkow—director of the Gastronomy Academy at UCAB and chef at Bocú restaurant in Caracas—was already cooking for impacted families. Within hours, her academy’s kitchens and partner Caracas Catering were producing meals for families and volunteers in need. Because the skills that make a great cook—precision, speed, the ability to feed many with care—are exactly the skills that matter most when a crisis hits.
