Covid-19 Pandemic
In response to the combined health, economic, and humanitarian crises brought about by the pandemic, WCK distributed individually packaged, fresh meals in communities in need of support. The WCK team worked with over 2,500 restaurants in more than 400 cities across the United States. We also supported communities in Spain, Indonesia, and the Dominican Republic.
Invasion of Ukraine
WCK’s response in Ukraine has reached hundreds of cities and towns, including in seven other countries. In the early months of the invasion, WCK served millions of fresh meals to Ukrainian families fleeing home as well as people remaining in the country. Now, we are supporting frontline communities in eastern and southern Ukraine where the need for food is urgent.
Cyclone Batsirai
At landfall, Cyclone Batsirai had the equivalent strength of a Category 3 hurricane—entire villages were destroyed, leaving affected areas cut off from support. Immediately following the storm, WCK set up a Field Kitchen, purchased fresh ingredients from the community market, and utilized locally made pots to empower a local team of cooks to prepare over 68,000 meals in one month.
